First, soak up the carnival atmosphere in the vibrant city of Sao Paulo. Next to Foz de Iguazu, the perfect jumping off point to visit the spectacular force of nature that is the Iguazu falls. Next on the itinerary; Fortaleza, and some of the best beaches in Brazil. Then on to Manaus where the merging of Rio Negro and Rio Solimões form the mighty Amazon River. Fortaleza is a major city on Brazil's northeast coast, and the capital of Ceará state. It is one of the largest cities in Brazil and certainly one of the most vibrant. The city is perhaps the most popular domestic package tour destination, and Europeans are following suit. Despite being quite a party town, the carnival in Fortaleza is rather feeble, though growing bigger by the year, with the largest parades being maracatu-style. There are 2.55 million inhabitants in the city, and 3.5 million in the metropolitan area.

As the capital and largest city of Amazonas and the gateway to the natural wonders of the Amazon Rainforest, Manaus is one of Brazil’s most visited destinations. Although the city is usually a stopover for visitors heading into the jungle, it does offer a couple of its own attractions such as museums and monuments where you can get an insight into the local history and culture. Manaus has everything you need to prepare for your rainforest adventure, including a variety of shops, restaurants and accommodation options.

Tabatinga is a frontier city in the north-western part of the state of Amazonas in Brazil. It forms a contiguous settlement with the Colombian town of Leticia, on the Amazon River. Santa Rosa on the nearby island in the river is in Peru.
