The Kruger is probably the most popular national park in the world and one of the largest protected areas in South Africa. It is visited by more than 1.5 million visitors a year, and it is easy to see why. With a diverse ecosystem - the park has 16 different ecozones - home to 145 species of mammals and almost 500 species of birds in an area of 19,500 km², the Kruger is a wildlife lover's paradise. Although the park is very large, it is easily accessible due to its excellent road network.
