ZURICH

Day 1 - 2

Although known worldwide as a centre for banking and finance, Switzerland’s largest city has a lot more to offer; its picturesque setting between a lake and a river with the glorious peaks of the Alps in the distance is instantly mesmerising, and the winding cobbled lanes of the old town are filled with intact medieval churches, squares and quaint cafes. Yet despite its rich history, Zürich has a contemporary, vibrant and post-industrial feel and has become a European hub for art, culture and innovation.

BERNE

Day 2 - 3

Although small in size, Switzerland’s de facto capital city is bursting with charm; its stunning location on a peninsula on the River Aare with the snow-capped Alps glistening in the distance give visitors a first impression that doesn’t disappoint. The cobbled streets of the preserved old town are lined with medieval arcades holding shops, cafes and restaurants - the incredible architecture even earned the city UNESCO World Heritage status - and ancient clock towers and cathedrals blend perfectly into the scenic cityscape.

MONTREUX

Day 3 - 4

Montreux is nestled on the shore of Lake Geneva with a stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps, and has been attracting artists, writers and musicians to holiday there since the 19th century. To this day visitors flock to enjoy the magical atmosphere and tranquility of the town, with many coming to attend the famed Jazz Festival every July. The hilltop old town is worth a stroll, its cobblestone lanes filled with historic architecture and offering scenic views, and slightly further down the lake is the island castle of Château de Chillon.

ZERMATT

Day 4 - 6

The tall, snow-covered peak of the Matterhorn mountain rises above traditional wooden chalets in Zermatt, one of Switzerland’s most iconic ski resorts. The town has been a popular destination since the 19th century, and boasts a mixed year-round crowd of skiers, climbers, backpackers and socialites who come to experience the breathtaking magic of the Swiss mountains. Sophisticated bars and luxury lodges contrast with budget hostels, and despite being renowned for its high prices Zermatt has offerings for every budget and taste.

LOCARNO

Day 6 - 9

Sun-soaked Locarno is dotted with subtropical flowers, colourful buildings and mediterranean-style piazzas, and its setting on Lake Maggiore is hard to beat. Chic Piazza Grande is host to renowned music and film festivals, and just behind it lies the charming Renaissance old town and its cobbled, winding streets which are perfect for getting lost in. The 15th century hilltop Santuario della Madonna del Sasso has been an important pilgrimage site for centuries, and is accessible by funicular railway for a spectacular lake and mountain vista.

ST. MORITZ

Day 9 - 11

Perhaps Switzerland’s most iconic and luxurious resort town, St. Moritz is renowned for its scenic Alpine landscape which enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year. The town attracts a chic and classy crowd and has no shortage of designer boutiques and luxury hotels, yet the main draw of St. Moritz is clearly its surroundings. The clear blue lake holds the Snow Polo World Cup every January, and the tall peaks of the Swiss Alps are home to some of the best ski runs and hiking trails in the country.

LUCERNE

Day 11 - 12

Lucerne has certainly earned its place as one of Switzerland’s most beautiful cities; with a setting on the clear-blue Lake Lucerne and a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, a quaint medieval old town and the wooden Chapel Bridge which crosses over from the colourful waterfront promenade - this city has it all. The compact centre is easily navigable on foot and visitors can easily spend a few days strolling through the cobblestone alleyways and sunny squares, admiring the incredible architecture and enjoying stops at one of the waterfront cafes.
