Day 5 - 5

Pompeii is in Campania, Italy, not far from Naples. Its major attraction is the ruined ancient Roman city of the same name, which was engulfed by Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

SORRENTO

The idyllic resort of Sorrento is one of Italy's finest, dazzling with its pastel-hued cliffside houses that overlook the sparkling Gulf of Naples. The centre is filled with history, its evocative lanes and elegant squares lined with bustling cafes, authentic restaurants and shops selling local limoncello and ceramics. SALERNO

Day 11 - 12

Salerno may not have the same appeal as its sophisticated neighbours on the Amalfi Coast, but the city makes up for it with its lively atmosphere, excellent historical sights and unique charm. The medieval Arechi Castle towers above the city, overlooking the ancient Old Town, the 12th century Duomo Cathedral and the picturesque seafront promenade. A visit to the pretty Minerva Gardens is worthwhile, and stick around until the evening when vibrant bars and sprawling squares come alive with locals and visitors alike.
