Despite its small size in comparison to other capitals, Reykjavik boasts a thriving cultural scene, with a plethora of art galleries, museums and shops featuring modern Icelandic design. Trendy cafes merge day into night time when the city comes alive with excellent restaurants and bars, as well as an epic music scene. HELLA

Hella is a village in South Iceland, 97 km east of the capital city, Reykjavík. It's an important base for adventures into the highlands, to places such as Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk. Hella is a very tranquil village of only about 750 inhabitants, situated on the South Iceland's interior lowlands. It was blessed with a beautiful setting, like a green oasis in the desert with the calm and beautiful Rangá river passing through and the stunning view to the surrounding highlands all around. Hella's economy relies on tourism, as well as the chicken factory, slaughter house, glass factory and horse breeding. The volcano Hekla is in the vicinity.

VíK í MýRDAL

The small seafront village of Vik i Myrdal is a quaint and remote community which has become a popular destination for those visiting the beautiful South of Iceland. Set on a sandy beach and dominated by the Mýrdalsjökull glacier which covers the Katla volcano, the area is home to some of the most raw and untouched nature in the country. To the west of Vik is the black sand beach of Reynisfjara and its nearby cliffs full of puffins and seabirds, and during summer the village comes alive as its many visitors are welcomed by friendly locals.

Day 5 - 6

This small and modern town is settled by the lagoon of Hornafjörður, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Vatnajökull glacier. Due to its remote location and small population Höfn appears almost otherworldly, and this peaceful nature can be enjoyed by simply taking in the views of the harbour. The town relies heavily on the fishing industry, so make sure to try some of the famous lobster - and if visiting during summer check out the annual lobster festival which takes place in July.

The unofficial capital of East Iceland is still relatively undiscovered by tourists despite its rapid growth. Having only been established in 1947, the town is young in spirit and now serves as a transport and local commerce hub for the region. Its close proximity to Lagarfljót, Iceland’s third-largest lake which holds the legend of having a monster in its depths, makes the town a great hub to explore the surrounding areas.

The Mývatn region, situated in Northern Iceland, is home to some of the country's most impressive wildlife and nature. The small and slow-paced village of Hvammstangi is set on the scenic Vatnsnes Peninsula, nestled by the Miðfjörður fjord.
