RAPID CITY

Rapid City is possibly best known for its proximity to the famous Mount Rushmore Monument, where the faces of four former US presidents are carved into stone. Situated within the Badlands, Rapid is also close to the Crazy Horse Memorial and the stunning Black Hills National Forest, and boasts a lively city centre with some interesting attractions.

KEYSTONE (SOUTH DAKOTA)

Keystone is a tiny town in the Badlands and Black Hills region of South Dakota. It is notable as the nearest site to popular Mount Rushmore National Memorial that has full accommodations for the traveler, although they are achieved at the price of a "tourist trap" veneer.

ZION NATIONAL PARK

Day 9 - 11

The towering red cliffs of Zion National Park are a sight to behold, their iconic image attracting flocks of visitors each year - and with good reason. Choose to take a tour through the 57 mile long Zion Canyon Scenic Drive or, for the more adventurous, hike the steep rocks of Angels Landing or The Narrows trail which leads through the Virgin River. From mesas and grottoes to waterfalls and rock pools, the diverse and enchanting landscapes here are second to none and offer endless opportunities.

ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

Day 11 - 13

Arches National Park is a United States national park on the northern Colorado Plateau on the Colorado River north of the city of Moab, Utah. It preserves the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches, which are constantly being formed and destroyed by erosion and weathering. Over 2,000 arches with an opening of at least 90 cm (3 feet) have been documented in the park area.

MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK

Day 13 - 15

About 100 million years ago, Mesa Verde and the surrounding area were covered by a shallow sea, and sand deposits cemented into the sandstone layers that make up much of the park's geology. As the sea withdrew to the south, uplift in the area created the high plateau that is Mesa Verde.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK

The Grand Canyon is one of the USA's most recognisable and breathtaking landscapes, renowned the world over for its incredible red banded rocks that hold millions of years worth of history. Visitors to the park can follow hiking trails, enjoy a mule ride around its rim, go kayaking on the Colorado River or simply marvel at the dramatic vista over the deep canyon from one of many scenic viewpoints. LAS VEGAS

Day 16 - 18

The first words that come to mind upon hearing Las Vegas are casinos, gambling and bright lights, but the world-famous Sin City has so much more to offer. Listen to renowned musicians, marvel at the stunts of the Cirque du Soleil or take a guided tour through the museum of history and crime, and of course make sure to experience the buzzing nightlife in its lavishly decorated resorts.

LOS ANGELES

Day 18 - 20

The City of Angels - known worldwide for its movie industry, the towering Hollywood sign and its celebrity culture. Modern Los Angeles is a city of sharp contrast with a mixture of cultures, as well as an important centre for business, media and arts. The city draws in visitors with its Mediterranean climate, excellent beaches and laid-back atmosphere, and wows with its diverse culinary scene and exciting nightlife.
